Real Madrid are reportedly interested in hijacking Bayern Munich’s bid to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
Lewandowski, who scored all four of Dortmund’s goals in their Champions League 4-3 semi-final aggregate win against Madrid, has been linked with a move to Bayern for the past few months, as he approaches the final year of his contract.
However, in meeting with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke this week, Madrid President Florentino Perez reportedly asked after the Polish international too.
According to AS, Watzke conceded that the Germans are likely to lose the striker in the summer, but that negotiations with Bayern are not yet concluded and that he could sell the player to Los Blancos for a cheaper price.
Specifically, where Bayern are thought to be pushed for a €25m fee for Lewandowski, Madrid would be asked for €20m to take the striker.
Los Merengues are expected to make a move in the summer transfer market to boost their options in attack, with one of Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema expected to be leaving.
