Diego Simeone was insistent that his Atletico Madrid side could have beaten Real Madrid on Saturday.
Radamel Falcao gave the Rojiblancos an early lead, but an own goal from Juanfran and an Angel Di Maria strike gave Los Blancos the win.
The Argentine Coach though, thought his team did not deserve to lose.
“Of the three games I've played against Real Madrid as Coach, I think this is the closest we have been to a win,” he told a Press conference.
“But we have a fresh opportunity in the Copa del Rey.
“We put in a lot of effort. We played the way we wanted to play, but it was not enough for a result.
“I am happy with the work of my players, but I'm not pleased with the result.
“Madrid were strong today though, and we have to credit them for that.”
