Reports in France have this week echoed those in Spain that suggest Real Sociedad will sign Coach Philippe Montanier to a new two-year contract.
Montanier is seen as having won the full backing of La Real’s board in his second season at Anoeta, with the team still in contention for Champions League qualification this term.
On from reports in Spain that suggested a new contract has already been agreed, media in France have offered that the arrangement will see the 48-year-old sign on until June 2015.
It is understood that the deal has been agreed upon by all parties and will be signed in the coming days.
If fulfilled, it would see Montanier become Real’s longest serving Coach in a single stint since Alberto Ormaetxea, who ran from 1978 to 1985.
Reports have it that Montanier originally asked for a two-year extension in preliminary negotiations last summer, but that it was rejected by the board, who at that stage were divided over his continuance.
