Mesut Ozil hopes that it is third time lucky for him and Real Madrid as they aim to make the Champions League Final this year.
Madrid head into a third consecutive Champions League semi-final tie this week when they meet Borussia Dortmund in the first leg in Germany.
For their creative No 10, it may be a game against a number of his German international teammates, but focus lies elsewhere.
“Obviously it is a special feeling to be playing against my teammates, but it is even more special to play for Real Madrid,” commented Ozil to reporters today.
“I have been with Real Madrid for three years now and it is the third time we are in the semis. The most important thing is that we do our best to try and reach the final.
“Is this my best season? I’m glad to be scoring goals and for my form but the important thing is that we function as a team.
“We have to give a good image of ourselves and work as a team. Scoring goals is not as important to me.”
