Tebas provisionally new LFP chief

Javier Tebas has provisionally been appointed the new President of the Spanish Football League (LFP), ahead of confirmation next week.

Working up until now as Vice-President, Tebas confirmed in February his intention to stand for election in April to succeed Jose Luis  Astiazaran in the role, whilst Astiazaran shortly afterwards confirmed that he would be stepping down.

The belief of Tebas holding strong support for the elections saw that no other candidate came forward, meaning that, provisionally, the LFP have confirmed him in the role today.

The LFP reported on Friday that he takes the role on an interim basis ahead of next Friday’s confirmation, will which take place once his application for the role has been certified as valid and approved.
