La Liga President Javier Tebas and Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales are to attend a meeting to set the date for the Copa del Rey final.
The pair are dur to meet Maria Jose Rienda, the new President of the Spanish government’s sports council, on Thursday to discuss the date for the 2018-19 final.
Rubiales would like the final to be on May 25, 2019 as the finale to the season, while Tebas and La Liga hope to play the final league fixtures over that weekend.
Therefore, Tebas has proposed playing the final on May 20 or May 27 during midweek, although Marca reports that he has already stated the decision will ultimately be that of the sports council.
Rienda’s department will attempt to oversee an agreement between the two sides, but if not her sports council will have the final word.
