Karim Benzema remarked that Real Madrid’s performance was the reason that their win against Galatasaray seemed straight forward.
Madrid have a 3-0 lead to take to Istanbul for next week’s Champions League quarter-final second leg, thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain either side of one from Benzema.
“We played a great match and I'm always happy when the team wins,” enthused the Frenchman afterwards.
“I managed to score too. That's very good for me and for the club.
“It was not easy, but we worked well as a team and that’s why is seemed so.”
Compatriot Varane again kept Pepe out of the starting line-up.
“He's young but he's playing very well. I am very happy to have him on my team.
“Now we’re just thinking about and focusing on the next match and getting through to the semi-finals.
“We will work hard for what remains of the season and towards not losing.”
