Casillas: Spain will rise and win

Iker Casillas has enthused at a Spain squad he sees as ready to raise themselves and record the necessary win tonight against France.

La Roja go into the 2014 World Cup qualifier in Paris two points and a place behind Group I leaders France.

“The game is hard, but Spain has a great team,” commented the absent captain.

“I know that the Coach and players are going to raise themselves going into the game and we will bring back the three points.”

Casillas flew out to meet with the squad today, as he continues to regain full fitness after recovering from surgery on a fractured hand sustained two months ago.

“When you’ve been away so long you miss meeting up with your peers.

“I wanted to come to Paris to be with them, to experience the game and give encouragement as a fan and nothing more. I greeted them, but I’m not with them all day.

“I hope that we can win the game.

“The injury? It has been a hard time, especially in my case, because I have never suffered so much time off with an injury before.

“I am now fighting to try and play as soon as possible.”
