Casillas travels to Paris

Iker Casillas will join up with the Spain squad in a non-playing capacity this week to support them in facing France on Tuesday.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper was not included in the playing squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Finland and France as he was in the final stages of recovering from surgery on a fractured hand.

However, on permission of Madrid, the 31-year-old is travelling out today to spend time with the squad and support them during the final preparations ahead of a must-win game in Paris against the French.

Casillas, who is in contention to feature for Madrid this weekend against Real Zaragoza, flies out today, having taken part in training with his club this morning.

Similarly, Cristiano Ronaldo has been given permission to stay with the Portugal squad for their trip to Azerbaijan, despite the fact he is suspended for the game.
