Paco Jemez yesterday moved even closer to committing himself and his backroom technical staff to new contracts at Rayo Vallecano.
The 42-year-old has impressed during his debut season in La Liga with the Madrid minnows, taking them to the edge of the European qualification spots in the table, and away from the regular threat of relegation.
In talks since the middle of March, Rayo are reported today as on the verge of reaching an agreement with Jemez and members of his technical team to extend their contracts beyond this summer’s expiry dates.
A third meeting between the parties was held yesterday and reportedly resolved minor disagreements over basic salary, whilst a fourth meeting is believed scheduled for later this week, with both Jemez and the club described as keen to reach a final agreement as soon as possible.
