Sevilla’s 4-0 win over Real Zaragoza on Sunday afternoon left Coach Unai Emery still talking of European qualification.
The Andalucians are in 10th place after Week 28, six points behind Malaga in the sixth and currently final European qualification spot.
“The most important thing is to look at what we have and not think about what might have been,” reflected Emery to reporters after the weekend win.
“The opportunities are going to have to be taken, because if not then there will only be fewer. We are displaying a steady line of form and theoretically we cannot fail.
“We still have a deficit to make up for and a negative to not reinforce. Levante in Week 29? A win would help us stay in line, there will be more opportunities too.
“Let’s see if we can break out because we need to be there [in Europe]. The situation is not bad, but the deficit means we are missing something.
“We have five wins and three defeats, we have to try for sixth place now. We are close but what is missing is much and is difficult.
“It is not an easy path that we have taken, but [this win] is important for not allowing any points to escape at home.
“If we are strong at home then it is away from home that we can aim to move up the table.”
