Under-21s list Canales, Thiago

Sergio Canales and Thiago Alcantara are notable returning names to the Spain Under-21 squad for upcoming friendlies.

The duo are both included in Julen Lopetegui’s list of players called up for games against Norway and Russia later this month.

Valencia’s Canales is back in contention after a lengthy injury lay-off with knee ligament damange, whilst Barcelona’s Thiago has also been absent from the side for a while, missing the Olympics and then late autumn’s European Under-21 Championships through injury.

In playing these preparation games ahead of next summer’s tournament proper in Israel, La Rojita are without David de Gea and Isco, who are both called up to the senior squad for World Cup qualifying.
