Seattle to pay up for Martins?

Reports in Spain have it that Seattle Sounders will pay the buyout clause in Obafemi Martins’ contract to sign him from Levante.

The MLS club have been in talks with the Nigerian striker since the start of last week, whilst Martins has also gone public in stating his desire to leave Los Granotes in favour of completing the move.

However, the Valencian outfit have made clear that they would only sell the 28-year-old for the €3m buyout clause stipulated in his contract.

Whilst this stance seemingly initially deterred Seattle’s advances, reports today suggest that they are now prepared to fund the deal at that asking price and that they will come in with an official offer this afternoon.
