Piti frustrated by contract delay

Rayo Vallecano captain Piti, who has suffered a fractured arm this week, has revealed his frustration at not signing a new contract yet.

The 31-year-old, who is one of a number of notable names at Vallecas out of contract in the summer, is keen to extend his stay with the club that began in 2007.

“I’ll wait for Rayo but patience is exhausted,” he told reporters this week.

“Maybe you cannot hope for everything that you want. I am 31 and I cannot wait and pass on other offers that I have.

“I have said that Rayo is where I want to stay, but the decision is in the hands of the powers that be at the club.

“I can only wait a little more from the club, because I have not yet had any approach.”

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that the forward suffered a fractured ulna – elbow bone – this week, but that it will not rule him out of the weekend’s match at home to Espanyol or even training.
