Di Stefano: Press want Mourinho out

Alfredo Di Stefano believes that the Spanish media are the ones that want Jose Mourinho to leave Real Madrid this season.

The Portuguese had been reported through the season as on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, after a difficult season on the pitch amid rumours of falling-outs off of it.

“The Press wants to cast out Mourinho, maybe because he is not likeable,” commented Argentine legend Di Stefano.

“But the directors at Madrid and the fans want him to stay.

“He is doing very well, and when I say this it is with the hope that he will remain as the team’s Coach next season.

“But, he is his own person, and when his contract ends, he can decide to do as he pleases. Currently I do not know if he will want to continue.

“Now everyone says that Madrid are in a great moment. Yet I say that for a while the team has been good. It why, even as they have good players, they were able to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford.”

Di Stefano was also asked of the subsequent reverse in fortunes suffered by Barcelona.

“They are in no slump. They are a great team and it means nothing to lose a couple of games.

“But as I talk about Real Madrid and Barcelona, I do not like to make comparisons between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.”
