Simao Sabrosa has enthused of the impact that Javier Aguirre has had at Espanyol since taking over as Coach.
The Mexican has overseen a turnaround in fortunes at Cornella-El Prat, leading the team out of the relegation zone and into mid-table comfort.
For Simao, who also spent time with Aguirre at Atletico Madrid, the hope is that Aguirre stays for next season.
“Aguirre is the right Coach to lead a project from the beginning of a season,” the Portuguese attacker told reporters today.
“I have had two fantastic seasons with him at Atletico Madrid and there should be no doubt. Already he has demonstrated his great work and that we are at a higher level now.
“I’m very happy about [reaching 100 days with Aguirre in charge]. He has his methods and we have energy for being in a better situation.
“We know him and he knows how to raise a group but, although things are more positive now, we cannot relax.
“The weekend game at Rayo Vallecano is our next final. There is nothing further than our next game, if we think of anything else then we will go wrong.
“Now everyone is together, we will be organised in defence and leave no spaces. Nobody will give anything away.”
