Andres Iniesta is confident that Barcelona can turn around their current form and defeat Milan in the Champions League Last 16.
The Catalans are on a run of three defeats from the last four played, started in Italy in the first leg of their European knockout tie, when the Rossoneri defeated them 2-0.
Ahead of the return leg in Barcelona next week, Iniesta has made clear his faith in his teammates to turn the score-line around.
“I am confident we can do it. We do not have a favourable position, but I am 100 per cent convinced that we can turn it around,” the 28-year-old told reporters at a publicity event this week.
“The team deserves respect, that people continue to believe in it. In addition, in the League we are in a unique position, I wish it were always like that.
“We will do everything possible to beat Milan. We are concerned because we have not been good, but this concern should make us stronger and more optimistic to continue working well.
“I am convinced that the fans will help us as they have before. We have to do well and go out like it is a final. It is a final for us where we need to get a very good result to stay alive.”
The midfielder was asked for his view on the penalty claims Barca had in the final moments of the weekend’s Clasico defeat at Real Madrid.
“The action was a very clear penalty, as we all saw. The referee is responsible for whistling for the decision and in this case I don’t know why he didn’t. We were prejudiced in that action.
“Our Clasico form? These games are very close, they are always decided by the details and we have also won like that.
“In addition, we are talking about Real Madrid, not just any team.”
