Pique: I hope the referee apologises

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has hit out at referee Miguel Angel Perez Lasa after the Blaugrana's 2-1 loss to Real Madrid.

Goals from Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos were enough to give Los Blancos the win, but the 26-year-old has insisted that a penalty should have been given right at the end of the match for a foul on Adriano.

“We have enough talent not to hide behind the referee,” he told AS. “But the penalty is quite clear.

“It is obvious that there is contact and therefore is a penalty. We have told the referee that the penalty was clear – but we know how it works.

“I hope he apologises the next time he sees us.

“A draw would have been a fairer result, but we know we have to improve.

“I trust this team. It is the best I've ever played in – better than the Champions League-winning teams in 2009 and 2011.”
