Diop barely recalls knockout

Levante midfielder Pape Diop admits to having a fuzzy memory of what happened when he was knocked out on Monday.

The Senegalese international clashed heads with Osasuna’s Emiliano Armenteros and was knocked unconscious.

Substituted and taken off to hospital for tests, the player was cleared the same evening of having done any serious damage, but he still can only barely recall the incident.

“I saw the pictures yesterday and it was a hard blow, first a blow with him [Armenteros] and then in falling, but these are things in football and in the end it was just a scare,” commented Diop to reporters this week.

“The last thing I remember is being in the hospital and waking up, and I remember being on the stretcher when they took me off the pitch, but we must move on from this because it is something that happens in football.

“I’m much better, I could run a little today and will do so again tomorrow and we’ll see how I am for Saturday’s derby with Valencia. I really want to play in that game. We will do everything we can.”
