Raphael Varane enthused at Real Madrid’s performance against Barcelona and the team effort it took to defeat them.
Madrid won 3-1 on Tuesday evening at the Camp Nou to record an aggregate 4-2 Copa del Rey semi-final win, with Varane netting in both legs with headers.
“We are happy and when we play as we have here, as a team, we know we can win, so we did,” enthused the young Frenchman at full-time.
“Victory tonight is very important, but we are already thinking towards the final.
“Barcelona are a difficult team to defend against because they have very fast players, so we played close together and tried not to leave spaces.
“My performance? I try to improve and learn, that is good for my career. I'm ready to play now and in the future and to help the team and that is what I am here for.”
