Obafemi Martins is pushing for a quick sale out of Levante, as Seattle Sounders look to tie up a €3m purchase.
The Nigerian only joined Levante in the summer after cutting short his stay with Russian club Rubin Kazan.
Whilst making an initial impact in the team, reports emerged this week that MLS outfit Seattle Sounders were travelling out to Valencia to negotiate a deal at a €3m price.
Speaking on Radio Valencia yesterday evening, the 28-year-old confirmed whilst that €1m of that fee will be for him, this move is not about money.
“It’s a good deal for everyone. It would be nice for my family to go to America. Seattle’s offer is good and I want to leave,” Martins revealed. He is said to have been offered a two-year contract paying €2.5m a year.
“I’m not happy here, because I was promised something that has not been met. I help the team, but there is something that Levante have not met. It is not a question of money and I want out.
“It is difficult to speak publicly about it. Ask Manolo [Salvador, Levante’s sporting director], he knows what it is.
“Of this €3m, two are for Levante and one is for me. I came to Levante for very little money and they will receive more than what it cost to sign me, so it would be a good deal for Levante.”
However, Levante have communicated via their official Twitter account that they: “will not negotiate now the exit of any player and if there is an offer then it must be at the termination clause.”
