Busquets: Result a bit excessive

Sergio Busquets believes Barcelona didn’t deserve a 3-1 defeat at home to Real Madrid, but reflected that their first two goals ‘really hurt us’.

Barca were hit on the counter-attack in the build-up to both Cristiano Ronaldo’s strikes for 0-1 and 0-2 in this Copa del Rey semi-final second leg, on the way to a 4-2 aggregate scoreline in favour of the capital club.

“There was no lack of attitude from us or chances created. That’s football. We need to be more successful in front of goal and more forceful in defence,” mused Busquets afterwards.

“I think we were playing relatively well and the result is a bit excessive, the way they scored the first two goals really hurt us.

“We’re not doing well at the moment, we’re going to fight for the Champions League, which will be difficult but not impossible, and for the Liga.

“Time cures all wrongs, in four days we have another League match and we have to try to win this important title.”
