Pedro: Friendlies important

Pedro Rodriguez admitted he was happy for his double-strike against Uruguay, before commenting that such friendlies are important for Spain.

La Roja made it 18 games unbeaten with a 3-1 win over their South American opponents this midweek, thanks to two smart finishes from Pedro in the second half.

“I’m happy for the win and for the goals, but the important thing is to continue step by step,” commented the Barcelona forward at the end.

“The friendlies are complicated because you have to put in the ambition and desire. This team has achieved nice things, but you have to win these games too.

“Obviously it is not the same as a qualifier, but we have tried to be serious and play our usual game in this match.

“It was a great show and a wonderful experience to play in Qatar. The stadium was full, the field was perfect, we have been treated very well. We are satisfied.

“My goals? These streaks happen sometimes. I’ve spent time in my team when I could not score goals. Here I could score with the help of my colleagues, I am satisfied.”
