Isco delighted for debut

Malaga forward Isco spoke of his delight in debuting for the Spanish national team, but asserted he won’t be getting carried away.

The youngster was handed a first apperance for La Roja from the substitutes’ bench on Wednesday evening, in the 3-1 win over Uruguay in Qatar.

“It’s very nice to be able to debut with the best team in the world and in facing up against another very strong side in Uruguay,” enthused the 20-year-old afterwards.

“It is even better to do it with a win too, I will keep this shirt as a treasure. I will frame it and put it in my room.

“My future? This is far away, you have to go step by step. I’m an Under-21 level player, we have the European Championships in Israel. Whatever is in my future with Spain I will welcome it with open arms.

“My form? A player has to be aware that when they do well they get praise and when they do not they get criticism.

“Thankfully I am enjoying a good moment, working hard every day to continue to grow and right now things are going well for me.”
