Del Bosque equals Kubala record

Vicente del Bosque is now level with Ladislao Kubala for overseeing the most number of games in charge of Spain.

La Roja’s 3-1 win over Uruguay on Wednesday evening in Qatar was Del Bosque’s 68th game in charge of the national team, since taking over in July 2008.

From his debut on the bench in August 2008 against Denmark, Del Bosque has overseen 57 wins, five draws and six defeats.

Kubala’s 68 games in charge of Spain came across a period of 11 years, from 1969 to 1980, and listed 30 wins, 22 draws and 16 defeats.

La Roja have already scored a record number of goals under Del Bosque, with 170 in the Goals For column, against a defensive number of 45 conceded.

Del Bosque will break Kubala’s record for games in charge of the team next month, when Spain face Finland and France in a World Cup qualifying double header.
