Roura: Barca were better

Jordi Roura reflected that Barcelona were the better side at Real Madrid, but that he was not disappointed with only a draw picked up.

La Blaugrana saw Cesc Fabregas’ early second-half goal cancelled out by Raphael Varane’s header with less than 10 minutes to go, to leave the Copa del Rey semi-final between the two teams open.

“The media had said that Madrid had many casualties. Madrid were not weak, we knew this,” Roura reflected afterwards.

“We were expecting that kind of pressure from Madrid, in fact we were expecting it to be a bit more intense at the start of the game.

“They waited for us in our own half because they are a physical and strong team and it’s always difficult to hold onto the ball, especially at the start. Overall, we were the superior side.

“Before the match I had said that these games are decided by very small details. And now the tie will be decided in Barcelona.”

The assistant Coach was asked if he were disappointed that the result was not greater than a score draw.

“Our reading is that a draw at the Bernabeu is always a good result. For us it is a good result but we know that this is not clear.

“In the return leg we will play like we always have in Barcelona. We won’t sit back and wait for Madrid.

“We’ll go for the win, we’ll play the same way in Barcelona that we did here. It will be a hard-fought match.”
