Lionel Messi again has an opportunity to equal and then surpass Alfredo Di Stefano’s goalscoring record in the Clasico.
Di Stefano is currently the all-time goalscorer in games between Real Madrid and Barcelona, having netted 18 times during his playing career.
Messi, who has already netted four times in the previous three Clasicos played this season, goes into Wednesday evening’s fixture just one goal behind on 17.
The 25-year-old needs just the one strike to match Di Stefano, whilst a second would see him become the outright leading goalscorer in the fixture’s history.
Last week saw Messi break two League records, for being the youngest to reach 200 in La Liga and for netting in 11 consecutive Liga fixtures.
