‘Barca want win at Madrid’

Sergio Busquets doesn’t see Barcelona deciding their Copa del Rey semi-final with Real Madrid this week, nor does he see them settling for a point.

La Blaugrana travel out to Madrid this Wednesday evening for the first leg of their semi-final Cup match with Real Madrid, with the hosts missing a number of players through injury and suspension.

“We are very well, but physically I do not know how they are doing. Morally, Madrid should be fine, after recent results,” reflected midfielder Busquets to reporters today.

“We are calm. It shall be intense for sure. We cannot decide the tie there on Wednesday, nor would we prefer a draw.

“A good result would be a win, not a draw. It’ll be a close game and I don’t think a bad result would sink either team, because there’s a way to go before the second leg.

“It will all be decided at the Camp Nou, I don’t think we’ll finish them off at the Santiago Bernabeu. We need to focus on what we want out of the game, not on the players they’ll be missing.

“This game will have nothing to do with the Supercopa Clasico. There are many references, but that does not count. Both teams are now on much more of a roll.”

Teammate Lionel Messi has again pulled the plaudits after netting four times at the weekend and setting two new records in the process.

“I don’t think he needs any special motivation. That’s the way he is and he wants to improve everyday, and he does!

“That’s why he’s the best in the world and really makes such a great difference.”

The midfielder was asked if his ambition is to see out he career at Barcelona.

“I’m just concerned about here and now, and I’m very happy at Barça. Puyol, Xavi and Victor Valdes are examples for me.

“Xavi is really important for the way we play and a model in all aspects. He’ll be renewing his contract this Monday and we all hope he’ll be with us for many more years.”
