Del Bosque wary of juggling

Vicente del Bosque is keen to bring in fresh faces for Spain’s next match, but not at the expense of those already in the team.

The Coach is facing calls to include a number of players in the next Roja squad who have emerged this season.

Michu and Ruben Castro in particular are two names being touted for possible call-ups for Spain’s friendly in the Middle East with Uruguay in Febryary.

Speaking on the subject today, Del Bosque acknowledged the increased competition for places, but also the quandary that it presents him with.

“I will not say that the game in Qatar is a key game, but many players must maintain stability for us because we are playing in March too,” commented the Coach on the upcoming test against the South Americans.

“Those who have been with the team are willing to come, so we should try to have everyone happy, whilst not closing the door to those who deserve it.

“There is no player whose game does not fit into La Seleccion. All options are complementary. There is a group of players who are seeking a call-up.

“There is great competition and we want to introduce that young blood, new faces, but we have to be respectful to those who have given so much.

“I will try to open one door without closing another, because it is impossible to hold so many good people in the squad who are so good and otherwise deserve to be in La Seleccion.

“Will Puyol be called up? Probably yes, he is a player that I have appreciated and we are looking forward to seeing him enter that select group of players to have reached 100 caps with the country.”
