Ruben Castro on Copa & Spain call-up

Real Betis striker Ruben Castro has called for the support of the fans as they play Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey this Thursday.

The Verdiblancos lost 2-0 in the quarter-final first-leg last week, but the forward believes that with the next clash at home, the club can reach the last four.

“With the support of the fans, this team can get back the tie,” he told a Press conference.

“But I hope they appreciate the work we have done so far this season. Nobody expected us to be so high in the League – fighting for a European place.

“We know that the fans are ambitious and want more from us, and that's good. But with them behind us, we can go even further.”

The 31-year-old then commented on suggestions that he could be in the Spain squad for the upcoming friendly against Uruguay.

“I started the season very well, so hopefully that call will come soon. There is a friendly in February and I am making every effort to be in the squad.”
