Pellegrini: We were better

Manuel Pellegrini believes that Malaga’s surprise 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou was the result of having played better in the second half than Barcelona.

The Costa del Sol outfit collected a valuable score draw in the first leg of this Copa del Rey quarter-final, netting a last-minute equaliser despite playing the final 15 minutes with 10 men.

For the visitors’ Coach, it was nothing less than what was deserved.

“In the second half we surpassed Barcelona at all levels, even in chances created because they barely reached their goal,” Pellegrini enthused afterwards.

“In the first half we did not play well and gave away a goal to Barcelona, they had been better then.

“The tie is now open. If we play like we have in the second half here in the Champions League Last 16, we may be able to progress in that competition.”
