Valencia negotiating for Aspas

Valencia have not yet agreed a deal for Iago Aspas, but are thought to be in negotiations with his club Celta Vigo.

Los Che were reported by Cadenaser’s program Ser Deportivos yesterday as having already agreed to a deal to sign the highly-rated 25-year-old striker this month for his buyout clause of €10m.

Whilst this was later denied by the player’s agent and brother, reports today suggest that Valencia are leading the way in negotiations for June transfer.

Specifically, it is understood that they do have a five-year contract agreed with Aspas in place, whilst its signing is now dependent upon Valencia agreeing a deal with Celta.

The Galicians have made clear their intention to only lose Aspas for his buyout clause this January, which including tax rates could increase to close to €15m.

Coach Paco Herrera commented recently that the club have told him that they want to keep him until the end of the season.

Valencia are reportedly prepared to pay €10m to take the player this summer, but are keen to negotiate with Celta that this be paid in instalments, rather than in one go.

Premier League sides Reading and Chelsea have been linked with winter moves for the striker, who has so far netted eight times in his debut season in La Liga.
