Courtois ‘very happy’ at Atleti

Atletico Madrid loanee Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he would love to stay at the club for another year.

The Belgian goalkeeper is on-loan at the Rojiblancos from Chelsea, but has revealed that he would happily stay at Vicente Calderon.

“I am Chelsea player, but I am happy here,” he told AS. “I'll have to see what is best for them but I would be very happy if I stayed here for another year.

“I still haven't spoken to Chelsea though. If I can't play for them, then Atletico is the best club I can be at.

“It would be important for me and the club to make the Champions League next season. I am very happy here.”

The 20-year-old also commented on Thursday's Copa del Rey clash with Real Betis as well as the club's impressive League form.

“Betis are a fine team and play some really nice football. It will be a tough game, but the important thing is to win and go into the second-leg with a clean sheet.

“It's going to be complicated though.

“It is important for the fans here to be above Real Madrid in the League,” he added. “We've been playing very well, with a solid defence.”
