Celta Vigo talisman Iago Aspas says his side have ‘nothing to lose and everything to gain’ against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Los Celestes have a 2-1 lead to defend as they travel to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their Copa del Rey Last 16 clash with Los Blancos.

“It is going to be very difficult,” the striker commented at a Press conference today. “But I think we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

“In the first leg we showed that we can stand up.”

The 25-year-old had been criticised for a perceived loss of form attributed to his being distracted by transfer speculation, but was back on his game with a brace in Celta’s 3-1 win over Real Valladolid yesterday.

“The victory against Valladolid gives us a lot of oxygen,” he added. “To knock out Real Madrid I think we’ll have to score goals. It would have been good if we had held on to the 2-0 lead in the first leg, but we still have a chance of progressing.

“The 20 players in their squad are among the 100 best players in the world. Let’s not forget we’re talking about Real Madrid, they won the League last year. I don’t understand the people criticising [Jose] Mourinho for one or two bad months after all he has given to Madrid.”
