‘Being comfortable not good for players’

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has refused to reveal who will play in goal against Real Sociedad on Sunday.

The Portuguese Coach dropped Iker Casillas for the match with Malaga before the Christmas break, which saw Los Blancos go down 3-2 to the Andalusian side.

But the former Inter man has denied to comment on whether the World Cup-winning shot-stopper will start tomorrow.

“The players know who will play in goal,” he told a Press conference. “All I will say is that whoever plays tomorrow will not play in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

“Confidence often translates into performances, but it is just as important to be competitive and find a balance in every position.

“Being in a permanent comfort zone is not good for the players.”

He then commented on the 16-point gap between his side and Barcelona and revealed how the team would prepare to challenge the Blaugrana for the title.

“We are going to play like we're League leaders,” he said. “We have to think about ourselves, game-by-game.

“There is always room for improvement – I dislike living in a comfort zone.

“I am never comfortable, ever, much less when we fail to get the results we want.”

The 49-year-old concluded by remarking on Real Sociedad and the threat they may pose at Santiago Bernabeu.

“Real are a team that are not in a hazardous position, so they will come here without any stress.

“Trust is an important part of football and they are a team that are playing as a team, with confidence.

“But we have to win, we know this. It is our responsibility.”
