Abraham dreaming of Europa League

Defender David Abraham wants Getafe to beat Rayo Vallecano in order to ignite their Europa League qualification hopes.

The Azulones travel to the Campo de Vallecas for a Madrid derby this Monday, against another side that have defied expectations so far.

“After the break we are training well, with our minds set on Rayo and hopefully beating them” remarked the Argentine in a media engagement earlier.

“It would take us into the winning group.”

Luis Garcia Plaza’s side are currently 10th, a point behind Monday’s eighth placed hosts.

“I think our team has been very good during the first round of fixtures. With two games to go to finish the first lap, I think taking three or four points would be a good figure. If we get the numbers we can be in the Europa League, which is what we want.”

Abraham was asked how he felt Garcia Plaza would adjust in the absence of injured duo Pedro Leon and Mane and with others attending the Africa Cup of Nations.

“I have no idea how he will solve the left back issue, but we have players with the ability to play there and I’m sure they’ll do it well. I’ve not played there before, if I had to I’d give it my best, but I don’t know if my performance would be very good!”
