Leo remembers the first time

Rayo Vallecano’s Leo Baptistao has looked back fondly on the first goal he scored for the club at the Campo de Vallecas.

The 20-year-old Brazilian, who has been one of the revelations of the season in Spain, has scored six goals for Rayo, but only two of them were netted at home, the first one coming in November’s 3-2 win over Celta Vigo.

“It was amazing,” he told Rayo channel. “The fans felt like animals and it was very rewarding.

“This is the best year of my career, I’m very happy with what I’ve done and hope to maintain this level next year. In 2013 I aim to be at my peak. I wish for the best for myself and for Rayo.”

The striker, who has been linked with a switch to Atletico Madrid, notes that his life has been transformed over a short space of time.

“My life has changed so much and I’m very happy about that. I’m excited for it to continue changing. I’ve made a lot of friends and they’ve gave me a lot of confidence. I owe it all to my teammates and the club.”
