Aspas focused on Celta safety

Iago Aspas’ agent has scotched rumours that the striker could depart Celta Vigo in the near future.

The diminutive forward has drawn praise for his dynamic performances since Celta’s promotion, leading to him being linked with a variety of clubs including Atletico Madrid and more recently, Premier League outfit Swansea.

“Clearly there are many clubs following Iago this season,” Felix Gende told Efe. “But it is impossible for him to move to another club in December. He is focused on helping his team achieve permanence in the first division. In June, when more signings are taking place, God will decide.”

Gende did however go on to make what looked like a veiled criticism of club President Carlos Mourino, who claimed the Celestes had received ‘many offers’ for Aspas in a recent Press conference.

“They should focus only on sport, as they have just 15 points and need 30 more to stay in the division. I guess he was referring to the market last summer, when they preferred not to sell. Nowadays I don’t know if the club has received any offers for Iago as they haven’t told us anything.”
