Albelda: Win calms the waters

Valencia captain David Albelda has admitted that last night's win over Getafe has 'calmed the waters' at the club.

Los Che beat Luis Garcia's side 4-2 at Mestalla on Friday evening, and the veteran midfielder has claimed that the three points will hopefully calm the fans after they called for President Manuel Llorente to step down.

“There was a lot at stake in this game,” he told a Press conference. “Not only in the sporting side, but also to calm the waters.

“I heard the fans chants yesterday. It's the third time I've heard them, although yesterday they were said with much less force.

“The commitment of the players was great. No matter who the President is, if the players show no desire, it's useless.”

He also commented on the owner's decision to sack Coach Mauricio Pellegrino earlier this month.

“The President sometimes has to make some unpopular decisions,” he said. “The economy is not what it has been and that is showing.”
