Young forward Cristian Tello has signed a new deal with Barcelona keeping him at Camp Nou until 2016.
The Catalan club confirmed the news on their website this afternoon, revealing that the agreement was initially reached last Thursday, and that the player’s buyout clause will be set at €10m.
Tello, a 21-year-old winger, left Barcelona to join Espanyol earlier in his career, but returned in 2010. He played for the B team before debuting with the senior side against Villarreal last January. His first La Liga goal was scored against Real Sociedad the following month.
So far this season he has made eight starts in all competitions, scoring twice in La Liga and once in the Champions League.
During the summer he was linked to Liverpool, with Coach Tito Vilanova said to have intervened personally to ensure the youngster stayed put.
