Prieto: Sevilla wounded & dangerous

Real Sociedad captain Xabi Prieto believes the draw with Granada will take on a new complexion if his side beat Sevilla on Thursday.

The Txuri-urdin were held to a disappointing 0-0 scoreline in Andalusia on Saturday night, remaining eighth in the table due to their inability to capitalise on Getafe’s slip up.

“We went with the intention to win and it was not possible,” the midfielder said in a Press engagement. “But we appreciate the point, which was probably just, even if we had more chances than them.

“We will value it more if we win against Sevilla on Thursday. Hopefully we will achieve that and make a great start to 2013.”

The 29-year-old also discussed La Real’s six game unbeaten run, Sevilla’s problems, and his positioning on the field under Coach Philippe Montanier.

“The team is increasingly clear with the way it is playing and the automatic selections. I think you know what to expect from us, home and away.

“Hopefully we can benefit, but we know that a wounded team can be dangerous. They arrive not at their best, and with heavy casualties, but we to have to focus on our own and end the year with a victory.

“I feel comfortable centrally and wide. There are games in which you feel better in one position and other games where you feel different. The important thing is to be on the field, enjoy it, and try to help the team.”
