Jemez hopes to be solid defensively

Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez has conceded that his side will need to be defensively sound when they come up against Valencia on Sunday.

The Franjirrojos face Ernesto Valverde's side at Mestalla, and the 42-year-old is clear with what his men have to do to win.

“We have to be able to tighten up at the back,” he told a Press conference. “We have to defend well, but then steal the ball and break with pace.

“But above all, we have to play without fear without changing our game.

“Let's see if we can go against the statistics because we haven't won at Mestalla in a long time.

“But we know that Valencia are one of the best team in the League, and the fact that they haven't started well doesn't mean a thing.”

He also commented on the managerial replacement the Los Che underwent last week as Valverde replaced Mauricio Pellegrino.

“When a Coach has a side like Valencia's and doesn't meet the objectives, I think it's normal.

“Maybe they could have had more patience, but what will be, will be.”
