Malaga Coach Manuel Pellegrini sees tomorrow’s opponents Sevilla as contenders in the race for Champions League qualification.
Pellegrini’s side are 4th, six points ahead of 11th placed Sevilla, but the Chilean isn’t taking Saturday’s hosts lightly.
“One cannot be aware of the precedents, and cannot forget they’re playing at home with a tough ground behind them,” stated the former Villarreal trainer in a media briefing earlier.
“Sevilla are a direct rival, and have players that can unbalance the game if you give them space and time.”
Pellegrini was reminded that his team lost 2-1 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on the first day of last season.
“It was the first game of the championship, we had many new players and played a bad game defensively. The image of the team was not good then, we walked out knowing we had to improve, and did in the following days.”
