Former Valencia ‘keeper Santiago Canizares has expressed his regret over the sacking of former teammate Mauricio Pellegrino.
The duo played together during the club’s glory years a decade ago, with Pellegrino more recently hired then fired as Coach by President Manuel Llorente.
“I regret that Pellegrino has been dismissed and I hope 'Flaco' will get another chance in football,” said the former Spain international. “From outside the club it’s very difficult to give a comprehensive view, but I wish all the luck in the world to Ernesto Valverde.
“The fans have to be more united than ever, but the players must also must demonstrate the commitment required for a big club like Valencia.”
