Zaragoza lose Postiga appeal

Real Zaragoza will be without Helder Postiga for the first leg of their Last 16 Copa del Rey clash with Levante through suspension, after losing an appeal.

The Portuguese was sent off for two bookable offences in Zaragoza’s second leg Round of 32 match away at Granada.

The club had argued that the player’s second yellow for simulation was a ‘clerical error’, but the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have rejected this and sanctioned the player along with six others with one-game suspensions.

Postiga will be unavailable for his team’s trip out to Levante a week on Thursday for the first leg of their Last 16 clash.

Alcoyano’s Selvas Tapiador Levante’s Michel Herrero, Almeria’s Aaron Niguez, Rayo Vallecano’s Ruben Martinez, Melilla’s Sanchez Franco and Espanyol’s Javi Lopez are the others handed a one-game ban for red cards picked up in the last round of the Cup.
