Granada ‘deserved to progress’

Juan Antonio Anquela has rued his side’s misfortune and inability to make possession count, as he believes they had done enough to progress in the Cup.

The Andalucians, though, were eliminated at the Round of 32 stage, despite winning on the night 2-1 against the 10 men of Real Zaragoza.

Manolo Jimenez’ side had Helder Postiga dismissed on the hour mark, but progressed 2-2 on away goals on Thursday evening, much to Anquela’s frustration.

“They have had their chances, but from the sending off, we worked hard enough to easily deserve to go through,” complained the Coach afterwards.

“We wanted to stay in the Cup, there is no comfort in being able to focus on the League now.

“We did well, but I did see Zaragoza’s goal coming, because in the first 10 minutes of the second half we lacked the intensity that is required, which happens in all games.

“The team is doing a lot more than they are getting. The football we are playing is that of a team in a different situation.

“Fatigue I hope will not hit the players, because on Sunday against Espanyol ambition must overcome everything.”
