Away form puzzles Piatti

Pablo Piatti admits that Valencia are struggling to identify why they are suffering with poor form on the road this season.

Los Che have the worst away record of the season, having managed to collect just the two points so far on their travels and Piatti has admitted today that identifying what is going wrong is proving hard.

“At Mestalla things are going well, but away from home we are not finding the necessary attitude or the points,” commented the diminutive Argentine.

“Now we have a home game coming up and we want to make the most of it. We are working on the away form, but we still have not found the problem away from home.

“We’re not feeling good, we are not comfortable and we do not know if it’s a question of attitude or not.

“The team is united in trying to overcome the adversity. Undoubtedly there are many things that need to be improved, especially away from home.

“Mentality is the fundamental thing. If we don’t have the same conviction that we have at Mestalla, then it is very difficult and we could suffer like we did last weekend.”

This weekend is a return to home, though, with Real Sociedad visiting

“Real Sociedad have very fast players up front, can play very well on the counter and are a dangerous team, as they demonstrated against Malaga.

“Last year they made it a very hard match for us, but we hope to do well and get the three points on Saturday.”

Piatti was talking to the Press the day after making his first start of the season in the team’s Cup success over Llagostera. His appearance also critically marked his continued recovery from a dislocated shoulder suffered in training in early September.

“I’m slowly coming back after injury and almost two months out. I was very comfortable yesterday in my time on the field.

“I’m working very hard every day and I want to earn a place in order to prove that I can play at the level required for Valencia.”
