Bielsa values Europa trip

Marcelo Bielsa is relaxed ahead of Athletic Bilbao’s Europa League tie in Israel and believes there is value in the dead rubber fixture.

Athletic’s trip out to Tel Aviv to face Hapoel Kiryat Shmona was postponed last week due to safety fears and rearranged by UEFA for this Wednesday in Haifa.

For Coach Bielsa, the recent military clashes in Israel  are not a concern, for his trust in the European game's governing body to have made the right decision.

“We are calm. We respect the decisions that have been made. Last week we were told that we could not come and this week that we should come,” commented the Argentine Coach.

He was speaking ahead of a fixture that in football terms means little, with both teams having already been eliminated from the competition.

“Whilst the result will not determine positions which have already been decided, a good performance, and some individual ones, will be very important contribution to the team’s future because it would add more options to each of those positions on the pitch.”
