Simeone: We can never relax

Diego Simeone has reflected on the competitiveness of Spanish football, complaining that his Atletico Madrid cannot relax in any match.

Atleti host Sevilla this weekend and still occupy second spot in the Division, just three points behind Barcelona.

Whilst they are also six positions and already 13 points ahead of Michel’s men, Simeone says Atleti cannot pretend to be expecting an easy ride on Sunday.

“It’s impossible to relax in Spain against any opponent. In this League there are barely any 0-0s and every week we see an intensity that you need for every game,” he told reporters today.

“I was happy for the outcome of the Seville derby last weekend because I know how people live there. Sevilla are a team with arguably the best right wing in Spain. We know that Negredo will not play, but Baba is a player who has different characteristics.

“The only question I have for tomorrow is between Adrian and Diego Costa,” the Coach continued.

“Diego is strong, has good vertical play and is aggressive, brave, unafraid. Hopefully he continues that way.”
