Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper David Cobeno believes the Anoeta pitch dimensions will favour his team in Monday’s clash at Real Sociedad.
Rayo come into the game on the back of two successive victories, while La Real earned a valuable three points with an impressive away win at Malaga last week.
“In La Liga every game is tough but I think the dimensions of the pitch are going to favour some aspects of our play, but then we have to prove it,” Cobeno told La Liga’s official website.
“We have to go there with the mentality we’ve showed in every game and give our all. Our Coach has a philosophy of brave, attacking play and the results have reflected that, so now we have to up it to the next level.
“The main thing is to take it game by game and play each one as if it was a Cup final. If we do that then the results will surely come.”
Cobeno is hoping for a place in boss Paco Jemez’s starting line-up in San Sebastian, but knows the competition for places is fierce.
“You’ve to do well when you get the opportunity, but the Coach has trusted me and we’ve been winning. If you lose then that puts what you’ve done in the shade, although a win raises everyone’s level.
“Any player not in the side knows if he gets on the pitch he will get another chance if he does well.
“That’s good for competitiveness and I welcome it,” he added.
